Advantages:

• Dramatically increased corrosion resistance

• Enhanced lubricity

• Improved release property

• Reduced friction

• Virtual elimination of galling

• Extended wear resistance

Properties

From numerous tests under varying conditions, hard chrome and polymer plating has shown itself to have the following:

Adhesion: By eliminating corrosion (the ultimate underlying cause of undermining and flaking), this coating shows excellent adhesion.

Corrosion Resistance: Generally, hard chrome and polymer plating produces 100 x corrosion resistance. Salts, chlorides, and other corroding agents cannot penetrate the dense microstructure of the bonded polymers.

Lubricity: This process produces a much smoother surface with a lower coefficient of friction, complete with unique “non-stick” characteristics.

Release: Because of the increased lubricity, the surface has optimum release properties. This extends the surface life and improves the quality of the product.

Reduced Porosity: While conventionally plated surfaces are very porous, hard chrome and polymer is not. The material is extremely dense, and no base metal is exposed. When impregnated into the crystal structure, hard chrome and polymer completely seal the substrate.

Wear Resistance: In tests under “real world” conditions, hard chrome and polymer improves wear resistance up to 10 times (compared to untreated surfaces).

Thanks to all of the qualities above, you can expect longer part life, longer production runs, less downtime, and improved product quality when you have your components plated in hard chrome and polymer.
